River Forth

From Stirling to the sea, the 62 miles of the River Forth drain into a Firth between the Isle of May and Bass Rock. Since the decline of naval facilities it is increasingly used by pleasure craft, a trend enhanced by reopening of the Forth & Clyde Canal.

Above Alloa, the river becomes convoluted and should not be tackled without local knowledge. The Forth Access Initiative aims to improve facilities for a broad range of users and the Coastal Litter Campaign has reduced incidents of litter and untidiness.
