Spring cleaning our World Heritage Site

15 March 2010

Tomorrow sees us continuing in our efforts to give the World Heritage Site a Spring Clean.

By the end of Towpath Tidy 2010 we hope to have given all 11 miles of canal a spring clean. We have had a fantastic amount of support from local communities, Wrexham Probation Service, Keep Wales Tidy and not forgetting British Waterways staff.

It's the British Waterways staff event tomorrow, we hope to see members from all over the North Wales and Borders team coming along to help. We will be concentrating our spring cleaning efforts around the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

So far we have collected over 60 bags of rubbish, a load of rusty scaffolding poles and amongst other things a Raleigh Chopper bicycle, a real blast from the past. Unfortunately the Raleigh Chopper was a little worse for wear.
