Alton Water is exceptionally rich in wildlife, especially waterfowl. In winter there are plenty of extra visitors of the feathered variety. Try out one of the bird hides for the best views: you're likely to see terns, rare sand martins, skylarks, and kingfishers.

The reservoir banks are adorned with wild flowers, which in turn attract butterflies. Lizards, grass snakes, voles and even otters have been seen on the banks.

Volunteers are always welcome to help with conservation work at Alton Water.
