Cycling along the Ashby Canal

These guidelines may be useful when planning a bike ride along the canal.

  • Marston Junction to Bridge 5 (3.5km): Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Bridge 5 to Bridge 6 (1.6 km): Unsuitable - no towpath
  • Bridge 6 to Bridge 15 (3.8 km): Suitable for cycles
  • Hinckley (Bridge 15) to Bridge 18 (2.3 km) Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Bridge 18 to Bridge 19 (0.3 km): Suitable for cycles
  • Bridge 19 to Bridge 22 (2 km): Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Bridge 22 to Bridge 23 (0.6 km): Suitable for cycles
  • Bridge 23 to Bridge 24 (0.3 km): Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Bridge 24 to Stoke Golding (Bridge 26) (0.5 km): Suitable for cycles
  • Bridge 26 to Shenton (Bridge 35) (7.4 km): Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Bridge 35 to Bridge 46 (6.7 km): Suitable for cycles
  • Bridge 46 to Congerstone (Bridge 49) (1.3 km): Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Bridge 49 to Bridge 50 (0.4 km): Suitable for cycles
  • Bridge 50 to Bridge 52 (0.4 km): Narrow and uneven - take extra care. If in doubt, dismount
  • Shackerstone (Bridge 52) to Terminus (6.4 km): Suitable for cycles
