Barnby Broad

Barnby Broad is a small, landlocked water on the southern edge of Broadland between Beccles and Carlton Colville. It is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) particularly due to its attraction to a diverse range of birds.

In 2000 a gamekeeper claims to have spotted ‘an enormous raptor', probably an eagle or vulture though not confirmed. Legislation introduced in 2002 prohibits the use of some types of lead shot for the purpose of shooting certain birds around the Broad.
