Barnby Broad is a small, landlocked water on the southern edge of Broadland between Beccles and Carlton Colville. It is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) particularly due to its attraction to a diverse range of birds.

In 2000, a gamekeeper claimed to have spotted ‘an enormous raptor', probably an eagle or vulture, though not confirmed. Legislation introduced in 2002 prohibits the use of some types of lead shot for the purpose of shooting certain birds around the Broad.

Barnby Broad is private land and can only be accessed with permission from the landowner

The Broads Authority normally has a public visit every year which has a limited number of spaces. For more information, contact The Broads Authority.
