Fishing along the Barnby Broad

There are parts of the Broads which offer some of the best coarse fishing in the country. Anglers can expect to catch roach, bream and pike, and to a lesser extent perch, ruffe and eels. Rudd and tench can be found in places where water plants flourish.

The season for coarse fishing runs from 16th June, 2003 to 14th March, 2004

Anglers should ensure that they have the necessary permission to fish on privately-owned waters, those controlled by angling clubs or on banks of tidal rivers.

An Environment Agency licence is required for every angler aged 12 years and over. There are two types of annual licence permitting anglers to fish nationwide. Firstly, a non-concessionary licence and secondly, a concessionary licence available to anglers aged between 12 and 16 years old and for people over 60 years of age, or disabled persons. Either licence can be obtained from local post offices.
