Wildlife along the Bassenthwaite Lake
In Dodd Wood overlooking Bassenthwaite, park environmentalists successfully bred twin osprey chicks in 2002 – the first successful breeding in the UK for 150 years. This year the couple returned and have one surviving chick who will be leaving the nest within the next month.
