This ambitious scheme could become the first major new waterway in Britain for over 100 years.
You can't cruise the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway yet - because it hasn't been built. But plans are afoot to create this new canal linking the River Great Ouse at Bedford with the Grand Union Canal at Milton Keynes. The new waterway will be broad gauge and around 20 miles long.
This exciting project faces major engineering challenges, including negotiating Brogborough Hill and the M1 motorway.
