Walking along the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal

The well-signposted walk from Gas Street Basin to Aston Junction is a fascinating journey through Birmingham's history. It passes the International Convention Centre, the Farmer's Bridge Flight of 13 locks, and the Post Office Tower.

The Farmer's Bridge Flight is one of the outstanding sights on Birmingham's canal network. The canal plunges down through dramatically floodlit archways, office undercrofts, and claustrophobic tunnels, providing a marvellous link to the past while all around is being redeveloped for the 21st century. Many a love affair with Birmingham's canals has been forged here.
