Restriction: Brewmasters (pedestrian) Bridge to Broad Street (road) Bridge

Towpath has been closed

The Conservative Party Conference is being held at the International Conference Centre (ICC). For security reasons the police will be imposing a closure on the towpath on the ICC side only between 8am and 10pm each day.

Canal Restrictions are outlined seperately.

Restriction: Deep Cutting/Old Turns Junction to Holiday Street Aqueduct

The Conservative Party Conference is being held at the International Conference Centre (ICC). For security reasons the police will be imposing canal restrictions to all water traffic on the Birmingham New Main Line at the rear of the ICC from Deep Cutting/Old Turns Junction to the Worcester Bar and the Worcester & Birmingham canal from Worcester Bar to the Holiday St Aqueduct from 8am on Sunday 28 September to 10pm on Wednesday 1 October.

Between the hours of 8am and 6pm, all craft wishing to enter the restriction zone will be required to be searched by two officers and a search dog. The search will normally take approx 15 minutes, with the intention of keeping disruption to a minimum.

Between 6pm and 8am, access will be allowed subject to advance notice being received by the police by Friday 29 August 2008 addressed to: PS 5663 GREENSILL, Operation PELKIN, Police Headquaters, Operations Support, PO Box 52, Colmore Circus Queensway, Birmingham, West Midlands, B4 6NQ.

Later notification will be considered but will be subject to the availablity of the search teams. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests where possible.
