Cycling along the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal

The towpath is open to cyclists throughout the whole route of the canal. It is generally in good condition, though you should be prepared to lift your bike through gaps in towpath gates. It forms part of the Parrett Way, a long-distance cycling route.

The canal is particularly popular with walkers and anglers, so please remember to give way at all times.

To cycle along the towpath you will need a British Waterways cycling permit which you can download, free of charge.
