Fishing along the Caldon Canal
Fishing is a popular pastime for users of the Caldon Canal and the surrounding reservoirs. The stretch of the Caldon is a section of tranquil water with major conurbation and provides a perfect backdrop for those in search of a little time out, and underneath the waters are a variety of fish, both large and small await your line such as Bream, Roach, Perch and a few Carp.
The Caldon Canal is an important match fishery, but there is plenty of room for pleasure anglers too. Anglers are welcomed all year round, but do remember the canals are used by many different groups of people, so the Waterways Code must be adhered to.
Other places to fish in the surround area include Rudyard Lake Nr Leek which is open all year round. Day tickets are available from the ticket machine and also payable on the bank. For more information contact Rudyard Lake direct on 01538 306280.Knypersley Reservoir which supplies feed to the Caldon Canal is also a popular fishing destination sand provides the most picturesque waters on any angling ticket. Fish who await your line include bream, roach, carp and pike.
