  1. Restriction: Swing Bridge Operating Protocols

    Please be advised that the swing bridges will operate to the following protocols:

    Muirtown Swing Bridge will not open to canal traffic at the following times:
    08:15 - 09:20
    12:10 - 13:20
    16:25 - 17:45
    Applies: Monday - Friday, all year
    08:20 - 09:20
    13:15 - 13:45**(10:20 - 10:50 on Sundays)
    17:00 - 17:30
    Applies: Saturday and Sunday, all year

    Tomnahurich Swing Bridge will not open to canal traffic at the following times:
    08:20 - 09:15
    12:00 - 13:10
    16:35 - 17:35
    Applies: Monday - Friday, all year

    Fort Augustus Swing Bridge will not open to canal traffic at the following times:
    08:20 - 09:00
    Applies: Monday - Friday during school term
    08:40 - 09:00
    Applies: Monday - Friday during school holidays

    Banavie Swing Bridge will not open to canal traffic at the following times:
    08:40 - 09:00
    13:40 - 14:00
    Applies: Monday - Friday, all year

    1. A bridge will not open to canal traffic within 10 minutes of a previous opening of that bridge.
    2. Only one of the Inverness bridges (Muirtown and Tomnahurich) will be open to canal traffic at any given time.
    3. British Waterways reserves the right to open the bridges at any time, without notice.
