Walking along the Coventry Canal
The towpath is suitable for walking along its entire length, but the most interesting section is without doubt the Coventry Art Trail from the city centre to Hawkesbury Junction. This once forlorn stretch of waterway has been transformed by the installation of public works of art along its length, making a simple walk into a real voyage of discovery.
Coventry City Council also recommends a number of walks in the city which partially or wholly use the canal towpaths:
- A 2.4-mile walk through Longford and Foleshill, starting at Longford Nature Reserve and ending at the park gates on Longford Road.
- A 2.6- mile walk through Radford and Foleshill, starting at the Canal Basin entrance on St Nicholas Street and Leicester Row.
- The 4.5-mile Longford Urban Walk starting at Longford Nature Reserve.
