Cow Green lies in a shallow basin on the upper reaches of the River Tees, in County Durham, and is encircled by the Pennine Moors.

Cow Green at the head of Teesdale is in wonderful and dramatic walking country. The area supports rare alpine flora and the lake is a wild brown fishery.
