Walking along the Derby & Sandiacre Canal

Most of the canal line can be followed on foot. The southern section of the canal now has a greatly improved towpath as part of the National Cycle Network.

The historic canal route has partly been lost between Derby City Centre and Spondon. East of here, though, the towpath is easily walkable, and you can enjoy a pleasant walk past the restoration work at Borrowash. Between Draycott and Breaston, the towpath has once again been upgraded as part of the National Cycle Network.
