Derwentwater
Derwentwater, 'Queen of the English Lakes' is three miles long, one mile wide and 72ft deep, It's a peaceful setting where you can cruise on a launch, picnic, walk, fish or swim. Or you can just admire the beautiful scenery.
Although popular for water sports, the lake's speed limits ensure that a peaceful environment is maintained. Taking the launch is an excellent way to see the lake and its surroundings. A popular stop-off is Watendlath which you can reach using the free minibus service run by the lake's owners, the National Trust.
