Boating along the Derwentwater
Sailing, motor boating, and canoeing all take place on Derwentwater. Served by two popular marinas at its northern end, it's within easy reach of Keswick and so attracts both holidaymakers and locals throughout the year.
Both Derwent Water Marina and Nichol End Marine offer moorings and boat hire. For those launching their own boat, there are plentiful slipways around the shore. However, do note that the lake is shallow at the edges. Water levels vary greatly throughout the year, with low levels to be expected during summer. New boaters should take advice from the marinas.
