Wildlife along the Fossdyke Navigation
The Fossdyke's fenland environments have an ecosystem all their own. Hedgerows are uncommon, but the banks of the navigation fulfil their role by providing wildlife refuges. In the water, you may see white-clawed crayfish or several local varieties of mussel. Common waterway visitors such as herons are also found on the canal.
