Cycling along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal

Cycle along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal

The Vale of Gloucestershire is a cyclist's dream. Not only is it beautiful - but it's almost flat!

The canal towpath is part of the National Cycle Network route 41, and offers great biking routes for cyclists of all abilities.

Download a spreadsheet detailing the condition of the towpath for cyclists. Contains condition grades and suitability information. Survey conducted in September 2010.

You must obtain a cycling permit to use the towpaths, which can be downloaded free of charge.
