Brades Hall Staircase Lock on the Gower Branch Canal, Tividale

The Gower Branch Canal connects Telford’s Birmingham Main Line to the meandering Old Main Line between West Bromwich and Tipton.

Boaters on the Gower Branch experience the only staircase locks anywhere on the BCN; Brades Locks, which lead to Bradeshall Junction. The Gower Branch is also noted for its arrow straightness and (perhaps as a result of this) its windiness. The canal runs parallel to the Netherton Tunnel Branch.
