The towpath will be closed between bridge 40 and 41 on the Grand Union Leicester Line starting on 17th August 2009, the towpath will be closed until the end of October whilst May Gurney carry out remedial works on the embankment.
May Gurney will be piling a 150m section between bridge 40 and 41, these works are in response to extensive badger excavations within the embankment.
Before the construction works can be carried out by May Gurney, exclusion works will have to be implemented to remove the badgers from the embankment. The scope of works will involve installing a 1m high fence around the badger set. While the badgers are being excluded the towpath will need to be diverted around the fenced area, this will occur from 1st July 2009 until 14th August 2009 between bridges 40 and 41.
