Hatherton Canal
The Hatherton Canal was opened as a branch of the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, providing a rural route into the Black Country. The 6.5-mile canal was closed after World War Two.
The line has lain derelict for years, but is undergoing restoration that will reinstate a direct route to the little-used northern end of the Birmingham Canal Navigations. The campaign has gained high profile support, including actor David Suchet - star of television's Poirot.
