The Huddersfield Narrow Canal contains trout, though the water can be acidic. Angling is controlled by the following clubs:

  • Lock 1 to Bayley St, Stalybridge: Stalybridge Fox AS
  • Bayley St to Caroline St: Waterway Wanderers
  • Mottram Rd, Stalybridge to Scout Tunnel: Waterway Wanderers
  • Scout Tunnel to Mossley: - Border Anglers and Naturalists
  • Mossley to Greenfield: Medlock Bridge AC
  • Greenfield to Saddleworth: Diggle AC
  • Saddleworth to Diggle: Saddleworth & Dist AS
  • Marsden to Huddersfield: Waterway Wanderers and Slaithwaite & Dist AC (except stretch from Lock 25 to 28, Sefton Hall Piscatorials AC, and from Lock 23 to Lock 25, Colne Valley Match Group AC)
