Cycling along the London Docklands

There is a huge push from the mayor's office via Transport for London, to encourage cycling in the country's capital. Not only in terms of safety, availability of parking and ongoing training, but quite clearly in the routes themselves - signage, crossings, car-free paths, cycle lanes, etc.

In London the possibilities for cycling are endless. There is the Transport for London Road Network (a partnership programme involving all London's highway authorities, the Royal Parks and cycling organisations), the Thames Cycle Route, the National Cycle Network (from Sustrans) and the London Cycle Network.

Full details are available at relevant websites, and free of charge cycling maps around London can be obtained from local newsagents and public transport offices.
