Cycling along the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal

Some sections of the canal are not accessible to cyclists or walkers. In future, it is hoped that at least some of the towpaths will be open to cyclists.

The section between Coney Green School and what was the Farmers Arms has already been incorporated into Route 6 on the Manchester to Preston leg of the National Cycle Network. It is shown on Ordnance Survey Explorer map 277.

Cycling routes

Unfortunately we don’t currently have any information on cycling routes along the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal.
