Wildlife along the Manchester Ship Canal

In winter the old docks become home to Pochard Ducks. These visitors, numbering approximately 3,000, come from Russia.

At nearby Chat Moss, you'll see some of the rarest wildlife in the country, like curlow and snipe. There's also birch woodland and carpets of purple moor grass.
