Walking along the Monkland Canal

Walking along the original route of the canal is not always advisable, as some of it follows the M8 motorway!

However, there are several sections you can still explore. One is at Drumpellier Country Park, where a new bridge has been replaced to enable local boating. Another, at the Summerlee Heritage Centre, takes you past an original canal basin and several other surviving features.
