Fishing along the Oulton Broad
Oulton Dyke and into Oulton Broad are popular for all kinds of watersports during the Summer, but by October the waters are pretty much left for the angler's delight. Most likely catches are bream, eel and flounders; roach, tench, perch and even the odd mullet can also be found, but in smaller numbers.
The season for coarse fishing runs from 16th June, 2003 to 14th March, 2004
Anglers should ensure that they have the necessary permission to fish on privately-owned waters, those controlled by angling clubs or on banks of tidal rivers.
An Environment Agency licence is required for every angler aged 12 years and over. There are two types of annual licence permitting anglers to fish nationwide. Firstly, a non-concessionary licence and secondly, a concessionary licence available to anglers aged between 12 and 16 years old and for people over 60 years of age, or disabled persons. Either licence can be obtained from local post offices.
