Walking along the Pocklington Canal

The canal's towpath is accessible for the whole length of the canal and is in good condition. However, it is a little uneven, and combined with some muddy patches in wet weather, this means that it is not advisable to take prams and push-chairs along the canal. All walkers should wear appropriate footwear.

An Explorer Pack called 'East Yorkshire - Pocklington Area' is published by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, with plenty of suggestions on walks along and around the canal. The Pocklington Canal Amenity Society also has a Guide to the Canal with useful maps for local walkers.

Organised walks and other activities take place near and on the canal courtesy of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
