The towpath can be followed from Limehouse Basin along the length of the canal to West London, with only two short breaks for tunnels. It provides a safe pathway through London without the danger of city streets. There are frequent access points at bridges.

Refurbishment of National Grid Fitzroy Bridge Cooling Sub Station is to take place. Access to the residential barges moored in this location will be maintained at all times and advance notices of the closure displayed along the Towpath by National Grid.Diversion routes will also be displayed.
