Angling on this canal is controlled by Ripon Piscatorial Association. Day tickets are available from Ripon Angling Centre: fishing is from the towpath side only.

The canal is well stocked with coarse fish which include roach, perch, bream, tench, and carp, which regularly test anglers' patience and equipment! The fishery averages 10 metres wide with shallows on both near and offside with a centre channel of 1.5 metres average depth.
