Cycling along the River Aire
Locally, the West Yorkshire Cycle Route (WYCR), a challenging 150-mile circular route more or less following the West Yorkshire County Boundary, is to be re-launched in June 2003, with particular focus on branding and signposting. For the serious and leisure cyclist, it follows mainly minor roads and issuitable for all people, regardless of age and ability.
The route goes through both rural areas and popular centres and local train services enable the rider to pick up the route at various points along the way.
To cycle along the towpath you will need a British Waterways cycling permit which you can download free of charge.
