River Arun
A major West Sussex watercourse, the River Arun flows for 25.5 miles between the south coast and Pallingham. It is a charming waterway that becomes increasingly attractive beyond Arundel where a castle overlooks the river.
The Arun lies on the cusp of a renaissance by virtue of its links with other waters, especially the Wey & Arun which is undergoing restoration. Reconnection could greatly increase the significance of the Arun in the route between the Thames and the Solent.
The Arun rises 120 metres above sea level from its source at St Leonard's Forest near Horsham. From Pallingham it still has approximately 18.75 miles to run before reaching the sea at Littlehampton.
It's the second fastest flowing river in the country with a 'flashy' nature responsive to heavy rainfall.
