River Cam

Rich in wildlife, the River Cam flows from historic Cambridge to more open lower reaches with a windswept beauty of their own.

The Cam has tributaries or 'lodes', some of which are navigable only by small craft or restricted to locals. The river through Cambridge is thronged with punts, and the best way to see this pretty university city is undoubtedly from the river, glass of Pimm's in hand.
