Along the Cam is the Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve, one of England's oldest nature reserves, set up in 1899. It is a classic example of what drained Fenland looks like. Now it's run by the National Trust and its 700+ acres of fenland attracts a large variety of flora, fauna and birds, like insects, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, beetles, teasels and the greater butterfly orchid.

Goosard Reserve and Stephen's Vale, two nature reserves near the Cam are also worth a visit.
