River Douglas
The River Douglas runs from the River Ribble to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, passing through scenic countryside, farmers’ fields and marshlands.
Walkers progressing along the Ribble Way can admire the progress of the River Douglas en route to Longton Sands and Longton Marsh. The river then flows south through Becconsall Marsh, Much Hoole Marsh and Tarleton until it meets the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Tarleton Lock.
The River Douglas was once known as the River Asland.
