River Eden
The River Eden is set in one of the most perfect holiday destinations in the UK – the Lake District. It is not only Cumbria's longest river, but also one of England's cleanest. On its journey, it flows 100km from the magnificent Pennines to Solway Firth, fringed by miles of public footpaths for visitors to explore.
The whole of the river has been suggested as a Special Area of Conservation due to the species of fish it has, such as salmon, lamprey and crayfish.
There are miles and miles of public footpaths on the edge of the river, inviting visitors from all around to explore. Many enjoy discovering the 10 contemporary art sculptures along the river, reflecting the artisitic talent of the local people and the location in which they reside.
Cyclists coming to Cumbria are challenged with many long distance routes along the river's edge, up steep hillsides and down through the Pennines.
