Walking along the River Forth
The Antonine Way from Bo'ness on the River Forth to Old Kilpatrick near Glasgow (on the River Clyde) is a 37-mile walk which connects to other trails and walks like the West Highland Way.
The nearby Blackford to Tillicoultry 10-mile walk - from Scottish Towns - is a bit of a hike, climbing up to 420m. Parking and toilet facilities are available at both ends.
The Forth Access Initiative, set up by the Forth Estuary Forum is working to improve the environmental, cultural and recreational aspects of the area around the Forth and beyond, including promotion of walking, riding and cycling for everyone. They aim to create a network of routes for all three disciplines, in particular considering the possibility of establishing a Sculpture Trail, a Heritage Trail and a Wildlife Trail.
