Walking along the River Kelvin

Looking over to the tower of the main building of Glasgow University

The Kelvin Walkway follows the river all the way through central Glasgow. It begins at Dawsholm Park, just north of Maryhill, and continues south towards the Clyde. Well-surfaced throughout, the route passes through the Botanic Gardens and Kelvingrove Park, two of Glasgow's greenest spaces.

There are accesses at most bridges as well as steps up to surrounding city streets. If you would like a wholly waterside walk, you can plan a journey taking in both the River Kelvin and the Forth & Clyde Canal. The canal crosses the river at the Kelvin Aqueduct, near Maryhill, with a set of steps linking the two paths.
