  3. Advice: Old Ford Lock sanitatry station

    British Waterways are refurbishing the sanitary station at Old Ford Lock on the Lee Navigation. These works are programmed to take 5 weeks to carry out, commencing 14 November 2011, and will be completed before Christmas.

    Alternative temporary sanitary station arrangements are in place for the duration of the works and are located on the west side of the locks.

    Notices will be attached to the site fencing directing users to the temporary facilities.

    Please note, trip boat movements on the Limehouse Cut are likely to increase during the lead up to and throughout the Olympic Games which will take place in the summer of 2012 Locks between Old Ford and Limehouse Basin. Rammey Marsh (except Picketts Lock, and the east lock of the pair at Ponders End and the west pair at Tottenham and Stonebridge) are mechanised and require a BW key. Operating instructions are printed on the consoles and anti-vandalism devices have been fitted over some paddle gears. Your BW key will remove these so you can operate the lock and you should ensure the protective covers are replaced after use. BW keys can be purchased from British Waterways London 420 Manchester Road Docklands

  2. Restriction: Eastern automated lock at Old Ford Lock

    Works to upgrade the easternmost automated lock at Old Ford Lock. The works will require the closure of one of the locks at Old Ford, but canal users will still be able to use the remaining manual lock to move back and forth.
    It has been noted that the gearing of the manually operated lock makes raising the paddles particularly hard and for that reason, during business hours, the contractor's team on site will assist with the operation of the lock.
    Could any planned cuises wishing to use Old Ford Lock over the duration of the works provide 48 hrs notice to BW general enquiries number so that it can be arranged for a member of our staff to be on hand to assist with the lock operation.

  1. Restriction: Partial Stoppage - Planned Third Party Works at Old Ford Lock

    Planned filming works are to be undertaken at Old Ford Lock on Thursday 24th May and Friday 25th May between approximately 04:00hrs and 22:00hrs. There will be a mooring suspension in place in and around Old Ford Lock from Thursday 24th May at 04:00hrs to Friday 25th May at 22:00hrs - please see local signage for clarification. During 04:00hrs and 22:00hrs on both days, the navigation will be restricted - there will be a waiting time of up to 30 minutes for movement through the lock. The towpath will have restricted access during filming - towpath users will be allowed through at certain points during filming. Both towpath and navigation restrictions will be lifted when filming is complete

  2. Advice: Charity Dragon Boat Challenge - Ware
