Wildlife along the River Mersey

The water quality of the Mersey of has improved considerably in the last 20 years. Fish stocks have returned and following them have come seals, dolphins and even a killer whale!

Large areas of the estuary have been notified as either a 'Ramsar' site or a Site of Special Scientific Interest , with large numbers of feeding and roosting areas for birds.
