Cycling along the River Taff

You can follow the river by cycling the Taff Trail, an excellent traffic-free cycle route from Cardiff to Brecon.

The Trail follows riverside paths, old railways and even the long-lost Glamorganshire Canal through the heart of the Valleys, before emerging into the glorious countryside of the Brecon Beacons. Energetic cyclists can easily cover the route in one day, but families may want to take a little longer over it.

The route also forms the southern part of National Cycle Network route 8, Lon Las Cymru. Wales' national cycle route, this is an exhilarating and exhausting route from Cardiff to Holyhead. Reputed to be the toughest on the National Cycle Network, it nonetheless includes several other easy sections of waterside cycling, such as along the rivers Wye and Mawddach.
