Walking along the River Taff
The Taff Trail is a multi-user route from Cardiff to Brecon. Popular with cyclists, it also offers good local walking possibilities.
The Trail follows riverside paths, old railways and even the long-lost Glamorganshire Canal through the heart of the Valleys, before emerging into the glorious countryside of the Brecon Beacons. The walk through Cardiff itself is particularly pleasant; continuing north, the high-level route past Cyfartha Castle is perhaps even better suited to walkers than cyclists. Around Merthyr Tydfil the route is rewarding for those with an interest in industrial archaeology, as you pass old kilns and cross towering railway viaducts.
