Fishing along the River Tees

Fishing in Cleveland:

  • Trout and the usual coarse fish can be found at many sections near Middlesbrough. Tickets from either Middlesbrough AA or Cleveland AC.
  • Stockton is an excellent coarse fishing ground, plus trout and grayling. Tickets from Stockton AA.
  • Eaglescliff has good areas for trout (brown and sea) and coarse. Free fishing from Yorkshire bank in Yarm. Tickets from Middlesbrough AA and/or Thornaby and Yarm AA.
  • Yarm is good for roach, dace, chub and sometimes trout too. Some free fishing. Tickets from Yarm AA and Teesside & Dist AC.

Fishing in County Durham:

  • Neasham offers free mixed fishing behind the Fox & Hounds pub.
  • Chub, dace and roach are available at Sockburn (Durham), controlled by Assn of Tesside & Dist Angling Clubs.
  • Croft fairly good for trout, grayling and coarse fish. Membership to Thornaby Anglers required. Some free fishing available near the road bridge.
  • Mickleton and Middleton-in-Teesdale for trout and some salmon in the latter. Season, weekly and day tickets from J Raine & Son, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
  • There is also fishing at the following places, although mainly for members only. Please enquire if interested, as there is some free fishing available: Darlington, Piercebridge, Gainford, Barnard Castle.
