River Thurne

The Thurne region is quintessential Broadland - a picturesque maze of rivers, dykes and broads peppered with windmills, attractive waterside towns and rare wildlife.

The Thurne itself is just six miles long and drains a wide area of the Broads, with its head of navigation only two miles from the coast. Hickling Broad is part of the Thurne 'system' and a mecca for sailors and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Thurne Dyke Windpump is a beautifully preserved drainage mill open to the public.
