Fishing along the River Towy

The River Towy is renowned for its sea trout which once, along with salmon, supported a succesful fishing industry. Today, the Towy's stock of wild fish primarily provides sport for anglers.

In 1933 a 388lb sturgeon was caught by a salmon fisherman some three miles east of Carmarthen. This giant still holds the record for the largest fish caught without a net in Britain.
