Fishing along the River Tweed

The River Tweed is internationally renowned for its fishing and locals take great pride in the fact that it produces more fish caught to the fly than any other British river.

Though anglers have flocked to the Tweed since the 17th Century, it was not until the evolution of Victorian fly fishing tackle that salmon fishing on the Tweed really came into its own. Previous methods of fishing, which involved a ‘tight' line tied to the rod tip, were simply no match for the big Tweed salmon.

Tweed trout are also famed for their large size and the distance they travel inland along the Tweed's winding course.
