Boating along the River Waveney

The upper reaches of the Waveney around the picturesque market town of Beccles are rarely busy. The original head of navigation was at Bungay, still accessible to light craft while the limit for larger boats is Geldeston. Water skiing is permitted on the Waveney at certain times in specified locations: a permit is required.

The low bridge at Beccles may be impassable by some boats depending on tidal conditions.
