Walking along the River Witham

The flatness of the landscape means that the areas surrounding the river provide easy walking conditions, though there are comparatively few public footpaths. Enjoyable walks can be had in the Boston area; around Chapel Hill and Kyme Eau; and, of course, around the historic city of Lincoln.

Around Woodhall Spa, you can enjoy the Spa Trail, a walking and cycling route along the course of a disused railway. Lincolnshire lost many of its railways in the Beeching cuts of the 1960s.

The towpath itself alternates between a grassy river path and minor tarmaced roads following the riverbanks.
